Westland, located in Wayne County, is possibly best known to Michiganders as the home of Westland Shopping Center. That's the big draw for the area, but overall the city is filled with excellent restaurants and bars, bowling alleys, movie theaters, and shops. When you're traveling to Westland for a day of shopping and fun, you need a great little guide to the best restaurants and bars in the area. Not necessarily the most expensive or the most popular, but the ones where the food is excellent and the service is top of the line. These are our favorites in the zip codes of 48185 and 48186.

Restaurants

Little Mexico II - Known for having the absolute best Mexican food in the Westland area! Everyone we know raves about this restaurant, their high quality food, and the friendly service. We highly recommend the combo plates which give you a heaping portion of food and a nice variety of tastes. If there are people in your party who don't enjoy Mexican food, there are plenty options that will work for them including burgers and steaks. Located on Wayne Road just south of Warren.

Bray's Hamburgers - When you need to make a quick stop but don't want to settle for anything less than top notch burgers, Bray's is your place. They've been in business since the 1950s, and the high quality is the reason. You can dine in or just pull through the drivethru if you're in a rush, but note that they make the burgers fresh here so you will have to wait a bit longer than you'd have to at another fast food hamburger joint. They've got plenty of breakfast options too! We love their coffee. Located on Ford Road west of Wayne.

Montana's Steak & Seafood - This restaurant is an excellent steakhouse with a Mexican and Tex Mex twist. They've got an all-you-can-eat soup bar that's very popular, and two of the best dishes in our opinion are the prime rib and the New York strip steak. Of course you'll have to try the Mexican specialties too. We love the flautas and botanas, and their guacamole is a favorite among everyone who goes there. You get huge portions here, and the service is superb. Located at the corner of Ford Road and Wildwood.

Golden Chopsticks - This Chinese restaurant and sushi bar is very popular with Westland residents. The freshest and most delicious food is served here. We love the Orange Chicken and the Bourbon Chicken is also delicious. We always get spicy tuna rolls when we get sushi. They're addictive! Many have said this is the best Chinese restaurant in the Westland area. Located near the corner of Wayne Road and Ford Road.

Ram's Horn Restaurant - You already know that Ram's Horn is a great bet when you're coming in late from a night at the bars. They're open 24 hours and you can get anything from breakfast to entrees, from healthy options to dessert. Plus the essential coffee or orange juice depending on what your personal hangover cure is! The service here is always friendly and they never seem to mind if you come in a little buzzed after the bar! If you want something substantial try the super burrito; if you're looking for something healthy you can't go wrong with the cottage cheese fruit plate or one of their delicious wraps. Located on the corner of Wayne and Warren.

Bars

Ford Road Bar & Grill - This is a great little hole in the wall and cozy neighborhood bar. The crowds here are always friendly and in a good mood, and the bartenders treat you like you're a familiar face even if you've never stepped foot in their bar before. The drinks are cheap and the food is delicious! You'll find this great little bar on Ford Road west of Wayne Road.

Malarkey's Irish Pub - Always a great place to hang out and enjoy an Irish pub atmosphere in Westland. It's small and cozy inside, located in a strip mall rather than one of their standalone locations. The burgers are beyond excellent here, and a giant perk is that they show the UFC fights free with no cover charge. You just can't beat the vibe here, and the friendly staff is a big part of that. You'll find Malarkey's on Warren btween Wayne and Central City Parkway.

Strykers Bar & Grill - Strykers has always been an awesome place to kick back with some food and drinks. They've got nightly specials that help you to go easy on your wallet while still quenching your thirst. There are also pool tables, darts, and many televisions so you can catch the big game no matter where you are in the bar. They've got the NFL pass here so you can catch all the best football games during the season. You can find Strykers on Ford Road east of Hix.

Wheat & Rye Westland - Michigan residents know that you can't beat the Wheat & Rye for delicious sandwiches and steaks. The Westland location is great for family dinners, going out with friends, or enjoying a low-key dinner with your date. They're open for both lunch and dinner, and the full bar gives this one more of "bar and grill" type atmosphere than the other Wheat & Rye locations. Karaoke, darts, and pool give you more bang for your buck. Located on Middlebelt Road north of Warren.

Bumper's Bar & Grill - Bumper's is a really fun place to hang out on the weekends, and a great place to stop for lunch during the week. They've got plenty of food and drink specials to save you money, and with their live bands, pool tables, games, and dancing, there is always something to do. Very friendly staff. Located on Newburgh east of Hix.
