Taylor, Michigan Party Bus

Taylor is part of the Downriver area, and it's parhaps best known as the home of Southland Mall, Gibraltar Trade Center, and the Wayne County Community College Downriver Campus. Heritage Park is a popular destination within the city for baseball, soccer, swimming, and of course picnics and grilling in the summer months. If you're heading into Taylor for any reason, you'll want to know the best places to eat and drink. The following are our top picks for restaurants and bars in the 48180 zip code.

Restaurants

Pia's Ristorante Italiano - In operation since 1955, Pia's is the absolute best place to go for Italian food in the downriver area. It's family owned and the staff is always so welcoming and happy to see you, even if you're not a regular. Everything is prepared in the restaurant, from the sauces to the pastas and the dressings. We strongly recommend the gnocchi in Alfredo sauce. You have never had gnocchi like they have it at Pia's! And the Alfredo sauce itself is so much better than any other. It's the best you'll ever taste. The first pizzeria in the area and still the best pizzeria! Located on Ecorse Road east of Monroe Boulevard.

Malek Al Kabob - Referred to affectionately by the locals as simply Malek or Malek's, Malek Al Kabob has the best Mediterranean food downriver. If you thought that La Shish was the best back when it was still in operation, this blows that out of the water. It's easily overlooked because of its strip mall location, but don't let that fool you. This Lebanese food is AMAZING, and people travel into the area from many miles away just to have their food. Our favorite dishes here: Vegetarian Kibbee, Chef Salad (this is made with cucumbers, eggplant, tomatoes, and delicious olive oil dressing), Chicken Paniee, Roasted or BBQ Chicken, and Swordfish Ghallaya. You'll find this gem of Lebanon on the corner of Goddard and Pardee.

La Marina Cafe - La Marina has the same owner as Malek Al Kabob and is located right next door. It's in the building that Heritage Perk used to be in. Now it's a great little restaurant where you can get all your American favorites plus some Lebanese treats that you would not find elsewhere. We love the dishes that have maqaniq in it, which is a spicy lamb sausage that's served with lemon. Don't forget that it's also a cafe with all your favorites from lattes to cappuccinos, and even smoothies. Located on the corner of Goddard and Pardee.

Pete's Place - There are a couple of award winning Pete's Place locations in the downriver area, but the Taylor one is the one we like best. This place does triple duty as a coffee shop, diner, and restaurant. There is simply no place downriver that does breakfast better than Pete's Place. They've got wifi, all your favorite coffee drinks, an extensive menu with all kinds of different tastes, and friendly servers who make sure that your visit is pleasant. Cheap prices too! Check them out on Telegraph Road north of Northline.

Leon's Family Dining - Of all the Leon's locations, this is the most upscale. They've got a great variety on the menu, all at reasonable prices, and there's a soup bar too. The waitresses are always so friendly here. There are lots of healthy choices for those in your party who want something light, and best of all they keep it sparkling clean here. Still a family restaurant, but a step above most other kid friendly establishments! Located on Telegraph north of Wick.

Bars

Cecil's Da Bar - We love Cecil's because it's a friendly laid back neighborhood sports bar. You can come in and enjoy cheap drinks that are never watered down and a nice selection of beers on tap. They've got both darts and pool tables to give you something to do between drinks, and the owner and staff are always glad to see you. They've renovated the bar since its prior incarnations, so if you haven't visited since it became Cecil's, you should definitely check it out. This could become your favorite corner bar... located on the corner of Goddard and Pardee.

Hooters - Hooters always gets a shout out from us no matter which city they're located in. You just can't beat their hot wings... and hot chicks! What's not to love about waitresses in skimpy tank tops and tiny orange shorts? It's "tacky yet unrefined" as their slogan says. The wings get all the attention here as far as the food is concerned, but they've also got great salads, appetizers, seafood, and desserts. And of course you can stock up on Hooters calendars and other merchandise while you're there. Located on Eureka Road just east of Racho Road.

Screwie Louie's Sports Grill - Screwie Louie's is an awesome place to kick back, watch the game, and at certain times have your lunch served by hot babes in bikinis. They've got pool tables and a dance floor here, and they play a nice mix of music from top 40 to rock and hip hop. We love to stop here for drinks after work. Their drink prices are always nice and cheap too, which is a plus. You'll find this one on Allen Road north of Northline.

erfect Pitcher Sports Club - Another great sports bar in Taylor is the Perfect Pitcher Sports Club. They've got TVs so you can catch all your favorite games, but their perks are hardly limited to just that. Nope, there's also pool, darts, karaoke, and a game room. They've got a kid's menu in the day time so you can save money when you take the family out. Their selection of beer is pretty good, and they have live music here on certain nights too. Located on Beech Daly Road just north of Northline.

Little Dublin Sports Pub - You gotta love the pubs. Little Dublin Sports Pub is one of our favorites because they've got great decor and a combo of the pub vibe and sports bar vibe. The best of both worlds. Their Avalance Burger is more than two pounds and it's extremely cheap, great to split with friends or take some home for another couple of meals. The sandwiches and appetizers are also really delicious. There are also video games and trivia to keep you entertained. Located on the corner of Monroe Boulevard and Van Born Road.
