Restaurants

Giorgio's Restaurant - Giorgio's has been in business for as long as we can remember, and we love everything from the cute style of the restaurant (including the original bar stools from the former coffee shop that occupied this space), to the delicious gourmet meals ranging from seafood to chicken to steak and of course pasta. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious. Located on Greenfield Road south of Lincoln.

Sukhothai Restaurant - If you're looking for a high class Thai restaurant, Sukhothai is the one for you. Even though it's nearly hidden in a strip mall, the decor is lovely and the food is top notch. Beautiful decor. We love the Pad Ped! Be careful when ordering the level of spice... Hot is VERY hot! If you love it super spicy, you'll love this restaurant. You can find Sukhothai Restaurant on Greenfield Road north of 10 Mile.

Wing's Gardens - This is the best place for Chinese food in the entire Oak Park area. Their Mu Shu Chicken is the best ever, and everything is always made fresh and piping hot. They're always busy and handling lots of carryout orders too, so calling ahead is a great idea. You never have to worry about getting anything less than the freshest food here. It's truly as good as it gets. Located on 9 Mile Road east of Rosewood Street.

Restaurant Sahara - Don't let the shopping center location fool you--Restaurant Sahara has the best Mediterranean food in the area. From the shish kafta to the chicken shawarma, everything is exquisite and cooked just perfectly. The prices are unbelievably cheap, and the portions are equally huge. It's nice and casual so you can come in anytime and feel totally at home. Located on Coolidge Highway north of 9 Mile.

Arbil Kabob - Another excellent Mediterranean restaurant in Oak Park is Arbil Kabob. It's family owned, and everything is prepared fresh and piping hot. Wonderfully delicious fresh pitas are served with the food. Though they are always busy preparing carryout dishes, it's worthwhile to take a moment to dine in, because the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff just can't be beat. Located on 9 Mile Road west of Rosewood.

Bars

Zzzzzz Tavern - This little tavern is nearly hidden, on Capital Street off Wyoming. As you know, those little obscure bars that are carefully tucked away on side streets are often the best ones. That's definitey the case with this cozy little dive bar. Delicious bar fare, great drink specials, low prices, and a great bunch of regulars that are always happy to welcome a newcomer. When traveling north on Wyoming, turn right on Capital and it's at the first corner.

Bastone Brewery (in Royal Oak) - Oak Park has only one bar within city limits that we know of, so we're taking a ten minute drive out of the city for these next few picks from Royal Oak... Bastone Brewery is a great spot to have delicious Belgian cuisine and brews. The beer selections are very extensive, and the appetizers and sandwiches are absolutely divine. You can find this wonderful brewery on Main Street in Royal Oak, south of 4th Street.

Royal Oak Brewery (in Royal Oak) - All our friends love Royal Oak brewery for their great prices on pints of beer, and their delicious menu offerings. The beer cheese soup is amazing, and we always get the sauteed calamari. There's none of the pretense that you'll find at other Royal Oak bars. Just great beer, great food, and a friendly staff to serve it to you. Located on 4th Street east of Main Street.

Gusoline Alley (Royal Oak) - Gusoline Alley, affectionately known to the locals as simply Gus's, is a great unpretentious Royal Oak bar with lots of cheap and great beer selections! They've got cheap black label for two bucks, well for three, and your standard beer selections from two to fifteen bucks. They've got a selection of more than one hundred bottled beers and nine on tap. Awesome bartenders who really know how to mix a great drink. The crowd is a mixture of bikers and students. Located on South Center Street a block parallel to Main Street, between 4th Street and 11 Mile Road.

Mr B's Pub (Royal Oak) - You can never go wrong with Mr. B's Pub. If some in your party want to eat and others want to drink, they've got a restaurant section and a bar section. They've got plenty of pool tables and video games to keep everybody entertained. The food is just a little overpriced, but the drink prices are nice and cheap so it evens itself out. Great place to stop in for a drink after work. Located on Main Street between 4th Street and 11 Mile.
