Lincoln Park, Michigan Party Bus

Lincoln Park is a part of the Downriver area, and it's mostly a bedroom community meaning that its residents travel to other cities for work. They've got a park with a band shell on Ferris Avenue just off Fort Street, and there are always lots of events and carnivals taking place here in the spring and summer months. Even around Christmas they have Santa's workshop in this area. If you're coming to the Downriver area, there are many great restaurants and bars in Lincoln Park's 48146 zip code.

Restaurants

Cathay House - Hands down the best Chinese food in Lincoln Park. This Downriver tradition has been serving happy customers since 1952, and since their newest remodel they have added an array of new menu items including silver noodles and chow fun. But don't worry, they've still got all your traditional favorites like their incredible sweet and sour pork (you can't get it like this anywhere else!) and woo dip harr. They've got a full bar with delicious and inexpensively priced cocktails to enjoy during your dinner. You can find the familiar red brick building on Dix north of Moran.

Tijuana's Mexican Kitchen - Though the outside of the restaurant is rather unassuming, the Mexican food you'll find within those walls is the most authentic and delicious in the Downriver area. It's hard to believe that you can get this quality Mexican food without having to travel downtown or out of the area, but it's true. All the locals rave about their chips and salsa, but we recommend splurging on the bean chorizo cheese dip. The best dish on the menu? Enchiladas Swisas Cheese with shrimp. It's smothered in homemade green tomatillo sauce, and it's so delicious! Great Mexican breakfasts too, including chilaquiles! Located on Dix halfway between Southfield Road and Cicotte Avenue.

Vito's Pizzeria - It's impossible to imagine Lincoln Park without Vito's. This popular pizzeria has shut down and reopened several times, but new owners always snap it right up and bring back that fabulous deep dish pizza that we can't live without. If you dine in you'll enjoy the full bar and spacious dining area, and if you pick up carryout you'll have easy access via the special carryout room adjacent to the back parking lot. You'll find Vito's on Fort Street between Moran and Goddard.

Chicken Shack - This was the first Downriver Chicken Shack location and it's the last one that remains in our area; the Southgate location having shut down in 2007 or 2008. You haven't lived until you've tried their delicious fried chicken and broasted potatoes. They've got excellent fried fish too. This is the closest you can get to soul food in our area. Great for both dine-in or carryout. Voted Michigan's Best Chicken & Ribs by readers of The Detroit News! Located on Dix across from the Sears Shopping Center.

Zukin's Rib Shack - Zukin's always gets rave reviews. People drive in from miles away just to taste their exquisite barbecue. Their Friday fish fry is very popular, and you get really giant portions no matter when you come in. Note that this is a carry out only restaurant. There's no seating inside whatsoever. It's great to call ahead, pick up your feast, and take it home. You'll find Zukin's in their familiar location on Dix between Cicotte Avenue and Outer Drive.

Bars

Chesley's Bar - Chesley's Bar is one of the most popular spots downriver, partially because of its rave reviews and "Best Burger" votes from The Detroit News. They consistently win those contests year after year, thanks to their consistently delicious hamburgers! This is Downriver's own "Cheers" bar, with the familiar faces, friendly bartenders and staff, and lots of events going on at any given time. You will find this one on Fort Street north of Moran.

Fort Street Brewery - One of the newer bars in the area, Fort Street Brewery has been voted in the top five for the Best Brewpub in Detroit, and they've got a giant selection of microbrews and cask conditioned ales. Literally hundreds! If you join their fan club you'll get steep discounts, free beer on your birthday, sneak peeks of new beers, an invitation to the annual members only party, and you'll get to keep the glass at the end of the year (just thirty bucks a year for the fan club). We love this place. You'll find it on Fort Street between Southfield and Cicotte.

Cee-Em Bar - Looks like "See 'Em" but it's pronounced "C.M." This corner bar has been a part of the Lincoln Park landscape for many decades. It's changed owners in that time, but it's still just as great as it ever was. There are daily specials posted outside the bar so you can check them out as you're driving past and know immediately whether or not you want to stop in. Inside you'll find pool tables, shuffleboard, and darts. Great place to stop in for a super cheap lunch and very affordable drinks. Located on the corner of Dix and Goddard Road.

Mc Caffery's Bar - McCaffery's is always busy with lots of different daily specials. The soup of the day is always posted big and bold outside the bar, easy to read as you drive by on Fort Street. Some say it's the best soup Downriver, and we can't argue with that! They've got karaoke on the weekends and great bands playing too. Large TVs are always on so you can catch the game or whatever event is being televised. Mc Caffery's is located on Fort Street just south of Goddard Road.

Clemente's Restaurant & Bar - This one's is an honorable mention because it's officially closing its doors in June 2010, but it's such a Downriver staple that we'd bet good money somebody will soon enough reopen it (perhaps under a different name but we'll still be calling it Clemente's!), bringing it back to its former glory. We love the retro vibe, the cheap drinks, and the delicious pizzas and pasta. You can take your pick from the bar section, a dining section, and the bowling alley. Fingers crossed that this bar comes back, and quick.
